Meet the Team

Boominathan, Senior Project Officer, Western Ghats Landscape
Boominathan is a Senior Project Officer in WWF-India’s Western Ghats Landscape stationed at Bhavanisagar. He works in the Moyar valley and the Sathyamangalam wildlife Sanctuary. Though he is with WWF since 2006, he has been working on mitigation and management of human-wildlife conflict in the Western Ghats for more than a decade now. Since conflict between human and wildlife is increasing in an exponential manner due to increasing human pressure, Boominathan wants to reduce human-wildlife conflict, especially between elephants and humans. He thereby wants to contribute his bit for wildlife conservation.

Boomi, as he is known among his colleagues, is a good team player and has excellent communication skills that help his team work closely with the local communities.

Boominathan was born and brought up in a small village in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. His passion and love for animals made him opt for zoology for his undergraduate programme. Later, following his heart rather than his peers Boomi went on to do his post graduation in wildlife biology. And today he has turned his passion into a career.
