Meet the Team
Girish Patel
Girish Patel has been a part of WWF-India’s Satpuda Maikal Landscape (SML) Programme as a Field Officer since September 2005. Initially, he worked with the villagers in Bagaspur village, which is inside the buffer zone of Kanha National Park. Since 2007, he is working for the Niek Community Conservation Centre.
He did a commendable job in Bagaspur by helping evict seven brick manufacturing plants, which threatened the local forest. He also collaborates with the officials of Territorial forest division. Due to his efforts WWF-India has undertaken tree plantation on more than 25 hectares of land. Due to his hard work the Niek Community Conservation Centre has received good support from the local communities.
When asked on how he feels working for WWF-India, he has this to say, “I have learnt a lot from the organization and my colleagues. I got to know about habitat, niche, birds, and community led conservation after joining WWF-India. I like to work with communities and when I see the support returned to WWF-India by the local communities, I’m satisfied with my field efforts.”
