Global Art kids roar for the tiger

The ‘Save Our Tigers’ campaign has encouraged people from all walks of life to take a personal interest in spreading awareness about the need to protect the tiger. One such initiative was taken up by SIP Academy’s Global Art program, Chennai. The program focuses on developing the artistic skills of children, and teaches them to use their creativity to express themselves. Global Art chose the theme of ‘Save Our Tigers 1411’ to encourage the children to express their views on this issue in a creative way. More than 1500 children between the age group of 5-15 years participated in the event across all Global Art centres in Chennai in February 2010.They were egged on, eagerly, by their parents.

Through their paintings, the children highlighted the critical issues that have caused the drastic decline of wild tiger population in India.

Their views and opinions were beautifully depicted in their colourful drawings. Each painting was a message in itself and a plea to the nation to help save the tiger. Some paintings depicted harmony between man and nature, while others showed hope for the tiger.

These paintings were exhibited in all the Global Art centres in Chennai and were open to the general public to purchase.

Global Art will donate all the proceeds from the sale of these paintings to WWF-India for our tiger conservation work. These paintings were also exhibited in Bangalore in the Forum Mall, Koramangala from 1st - 4th April 2010.
It is heart warming to see individuals and organizations taking on such initiatives to spread awareness about critical issues like tiger conservation and encourage young children to express themselves through art.
