July 22, 2009, Lucknow: WWF-India’s Living Ganga Programme under HSBC Climate Partnership organized an international conference on Enviornmental Flows in collaboration with the State Water Resources Agency, SWaRA, an apex water institution of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Experts from various international and national organizations viz. WWF-India, WWF-UK, UNESCO-IHE, IWMI and various government departments, non-government organizations, academic and research institutions interacted with the participants and shared their case studies in the two-day conference.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Anurag Srivastava, IAS, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Chairman PACT and Vice-Chairman, SWaRa. Dr. Suresh K Rohilla, Director – Environment and Development and Team Leader – Living Ganga Programme, presented an overview of the environmental flows with a global and Indian perspective. During the conference, WWF Water Security Series 2, Keeping Rivers Alive- A primer on environmental flows by Jay O’Keeffe and Tom Le Quesne was released.
