Community Conserved Area Project
Strengthening of Community based Conservation
Presently with support from ‘Sir Dorabjee Tata Trust’, WWF-India is implementing one project, in continuation of the project initiated at pilot scale in the year 2004 to promote community based conservation of forest areas, traditionally owned by the local villagers, in the form of ‘Community Conserved Area’ (CCA). The project is being implemented in two sites – Thembang village of West Kameng district and Lumpo and Muchat village of Tawang district. »Read moreImprovement of Fodder Resources
After completion of the study of the traditional grazing area management system of Monpa community settled at Thembang village, in this phase of this project supported by Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, as recommended by experts, promotion of cultivation of Fodder species among local villagers were taken up. Initially four species of Fodder – Oat Kent, Gunie Grass, Rye Grass and Alphalpha, seeds of which were procured from Uttaranchal Livestock Development Board, were distributed for the first time among interested five farmers.» Read more
Partnership with Indian Army for conservation of Forest and Wildlife
WWF-India has been working with 5 Mountain Division, Tenga of India Army for the conservation of wetlands, establishment of Rhododendron Nursery and restoration of degraded sites since 2006. Considering strong commitment and common interest of both WWF-India and Indian Army towards conservation of forest and wildlife a need has been felt to develop a proper action plan to take forward the joint initiatives taken so far in more organized and planned manner for better and sustained impact in the field.» Read more

Organic Farming
Promotion of Organic Farming in Dirang Valley, Western Arunachal Landscape
WWF-India with support from Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, a project was initiated in the year 2004 to improve upon the traditional system of applying organic matter in their agriculture field for manuring by building up the capacity of the local farmers to produce and apply organic manure and also to analyse the impact of removal of leaf litter, traditionally used for mulching in agriculture crop, on natural forest regeneration. » Read more
