Model of the Antarctica region with ice caps, penguins and human activities Display and Experiment for junior students (grades 5 – 8)

This project will focus on the Antarctic wilderness and its wildlife. It will also aim to increase awareness on the scientific stations, tourism etc that has a long lasting impact on the pristine environment.

Measure your footprint on Polar Ice for senior school children (grades 9 – 12)

This project aims to draw upon the knowledge of children on Green House Gases and its cumulative impact on the ozone layer. Children will be encouraged to identify the sources of these pollutants from their day to day life and suggest measures to reduce them.

2008

Stamp Designing Competition
Theme: India in Antarctica – 25 years
For junior children (grades 5 – 8)

India is now into its 25th yr of scientific activity in Antarctica. Therefore, the theme is quite significant for creating awareness among children and public at large.

Draft a Petition letter to the Head of Governments of industrialized countries, on the impact of climate change on humans & biodiversity, urging them to reduce emissions to pre-1990 level
For senior students (grades 9 – 12)

Today many governments and scientists agree that the world needs to keep below an average global temperature rise of 2°C (3.4°F) above pre-industrial times (circa 1800). This takes into account that the world has already warmed by 0.7°C since pre-industrial times. (The 2°C threshold is based on the best available science – the third assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This threshold has been accepted by many governments, including the Prime ministers and Presidents of all 25 European Union member states.)
