WWF-India provides assistance to Ladakh

WWF team is trying its best to ensure that mission which has been under taken is executed and the local population is rehabilitated back. At Choglamsar our work is in full swing.We have tied up with the Indian Army and they are regularly supplying water to various affected areas. The water supply pipes which have landed in Leh this morning have started working and are being used to supply water to those houses where tankers can not reach.

WWF-India urges tourists traveling to the Himalayas to go green!

New Delhi: In its efforts to encourage responsible tourism in the Himalayas, the World Wide Fund for Nature- India launched its Green Hiker Campaign today in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The campaign aims at raising awareness about the vulnerability of the Himalayan ecosystem, by encouraging tourists and tour operators to adopt responsible practices towards reducing the impact of tourism on this fragile ecosystem.

World Wide Fund for Nature celebrates Earth Day

New Delhi: WWF- India hosted a refreshingly creative and informative celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, 2010 at the India Habitat Centre in collaboration with Katha, a social organization into education running 96 schools in slum communities. The occasion was marked by an interactive launch of a picture book ‘Walk the grasslands with Takuri’ authored by Nima Manjrekar and Nandita Hazarika and brought alive with the brilliant art by Maya Ramaswamy.

Gateway of India dimmed in support of Earth Hour

Earth Hour once again receives huge national support

New Delhi: Hundreds of thousands of Indians joined millions globally as the clock struck 8.30 pm,on 27th March,2010 . India Gate, one of nation’s historical landmarks turned dark exactly at 8:30 pm when the Chief Minister of Delhi Smt Sheila Dixit turned off a switch, at an event held at India Gate lawns. From Ladakh to Thiruvanthapuram to Mumbai to Gangtok several cities and towns also switched off their lights in support.
