This ‘Anthem workshop’ was organized on January 29 and 30, 2007 at Tezpur office in Assam with an aim to revive the team camaraderie.

After the untimely demise of Pankaj Sarmah, a core staff member of North Bank Landscape, the team went through a doleful phase. Pankaj was an experienced conservationist and his loss was a serious blow to the conservation work in the area. The workshop was needed to revive the team spirits as team bonding and solidarity are the key ingredients of any successful conservation endeavor.

A group of facilitators from a company called I Square Ventures had visited the team and conducted an intense two days long workshop. During these days the team was required to write, compose and sing their own anthem with guidance from the facilitators. They worked day and night without inhibitions and developed an anthem, which they then sung and recorded in both their local language, Assamese and the national language, Hindi.

The North Bank Landscape located in North East India comprises of lush evergreen forests and grasslands which provides home to a plethora of species like the Asian elephants, Indian Rhinoceros, tiger, leopard etc. Estimates point out that this region provides refuge to a sizeable population of the Asian elephants, about 40% of the entire Indian and nearly 10% of the world population.
