Building capacity in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

Contributing to the world wide efforts in meeting the objectives of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) , WWF- India and WWF- Sweden have partnered with UNESCO to build capacity for Sustainable Development in Education. The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) is supporting the project. It is under the aegis of this project, that 2 day workshops will be held in Delhi, Kolkata, Bhopal and Raipur in order to orient the Master Trainers of NCERT, CBSE, SCERT and DIETS respectively in ESD. These will be followed up by a series of 2 day follow up workshops in 2012 as well. The first of these workshops this year are scheduled on the 28th and 29th of this month at the WWF-India Auditorium at Lodi Estate, New Delhi.

WWF- India’s Environment Education Division has been running 8 model ESD schools in the tiger landscapes of Sunderbans, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh since 2008 in partnership with WWF Sweden.
