World Environment Day Celebrations

The Pune Divisional Office of WWF-India celebrated the World Environment Day 2006 with a number of activities for kids. Titled, “Go Wild”, the celebrations were organized together with the Suzlon Energy Limited at a popular city hangout.

The celebrations drew a large number of kids and their parents throughout the day. Activities like face-painting, puzzles, playing with clay, slogan writing became an instant hit with kids. Children were also interested the many play time and educational activities like - tiger cutouts, nature posters and pugmarks – that increased their awareness about the importance of conserving forest, saving tiger, recycling and planting trees etc.

Through informative slides and music, WWF-India staff emphasized the importance of conserving forests, saving the tiger, recycling and planting trees. The event concluded with a trip to the Zoological Garden of Pune – the Katraj Zoo, where the children appreciated animals from close quarters.
