Vacancy Announcement: Global Tiger Forum

The Global Tiger Forum (GTF) is an inter-governmental and international body, established with members from willing countries to promote joint programmes and mechanisms to save the remaining fiver sub-species of tigers in the wild distributed over 14 tiger range countries of the world. The GTF has developed a strategy and roadmap for the next five years which includes the facilitation of information sharing within and between range countries as well as raising the international profile of GTF. The Global Tiger Forum is also closely working with the Global Tiger Initiative (GTI) of the World Bank to monitor implementation of the Global Tiger Recovery Plan over the next year.

GTF is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who can develop, implement and manage a communications strategy that will support and enhance its role in global tiger conservation. This will involve working closely with the GTF Secretariat and partners in New Delhi and within India as well as across the GTF member countries and other tiger range States. The specific requirements and terms of the position is described below.

Communications Officer for the Global Tiger Forum

Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities for generating communication and outreach for GTF
  • Develop content for the GTF website and keep this updated and interactive
  • Prepare media releases and promotional material, including the organization’s newsletter
  • Carry out effective dissemination of information related to tiger conservation in the range States in consultation with GTF focal points in each country
  • Undertake the design and delivery of campaigns on tiger conservation related issues
  • Assist with the collation, development and dissemination of case studies related to best practice in tiger conservation
  • Assist with the sharing of results and outcomes from the monitoring and implementation of the GTRP
Essential Qualifications
  1. Post Graduate degree preferably in Biological/Social Sciences, Mass Communications, Media or International Development.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in the NGO or Private Sector working on communication, media or campaigns related issues.
  3. Excellent written and oral communications skills
  4. Ability to work independently and with people from various cultures/countries
  5. Term of Appointment: One year. The position is performance based; any extension will be based on an evaluation carried out by the Executive Committee. No extension beyond the age of 65 years.
