WWF-India joins the Regenagri Board to strengthen leadership for regenerative agriculture in India
New Delhi: On 7 April 2026, WWF-India became the latest organisation to join the Regenagri Board of Directors, alongside existing members Solidaridad Asia and the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). Regenagri is a regenerative agriculture initiative aimed at securing the health of the land and the wealth of those who live on it. It supports farms and organisations in transitioning to holistic farming techniques that increase soil organic matter, encourage biodiversity, sequester CO2, and improve water and energy management.
WWF-India’s extensive work in securing fresh water resources, enhancing soil health, reducing GHG emissions, ensuring farmers’ wellbeing, and protecting biodiversity by promoting climate-resilient practices greatly complements Regenagri’s focus. It also adds scientific insight and on-the-ground experience, bringing valuable depth to the Board’s expertise. WWF-India and Solidaridad Asia had also launched an ambitious partnership in 2025, establishing the Regenagri Fast Track Cotton Initiative to bring 1 million cotton farmers in India under regenerative agriculture.
Dr Sejal Worah, Programme Director, WWF-India says:“Joining the Regenagri Board marks an important step in advancing WWF-India’s commitment to making smallholder agriculture more resilient and nature-friendly, by scaling a market-driven approach and expanding the adoption of Regenagri among smallholder farmers.”
Dr Shatadru Chattopadhayay, Managing Director, Solidaridad Asia and chair of Regenagri board says, “On behalf of Solidaridad Asia, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of regenagri, I warmly welcome WWF-India to the Regenagri Board. Their joining is a significant step in strengthening our collective ambition to advance regenerative agriculture in ways that benefit both people and planet. It brings together shared conviction and complementary expertise around restoring soils, protecting wildlife, improving livelihoods and building farming systems that are both productive and resilient. We look forward to working closely with WWF-India to help shape a regenerative economy that safeguards biodiversity, empowers farmers and sets a strong example for sustainable commodity systems globally.”
Regenagri CEO Franco Costantini says: “We’re thrilled that WWF-India has joined Regenagri as a board member and shareholder. Together with existing board members Solidaridad Asia and ICA, our four organisations offer a wealth of knowledge and expertise in terms of regenerative agriculture, improving farm resilience, restoring biodiversity, supporting farming communities, and driving impact as a global network. Together we can bring additional and vital momentum to the regenerative farming movement.”
With over five decades of presence in India working on species and habitat conservation, freshwater management, climate change, sustainable agriculture and environmental education, WWF-India is one of the leading conservation organisations in the country. By joining the Regenagri board, WWF-India strengthens its commitment towards supporting biodiversity conservation, climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods for smallholder farmers.
