A report was sought from the State PCB and the District Magistrate, Bijnor with reference to the allegation of pollution caused by operation of distillery unit of M/s Dhampur Sugar Mills in District Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, adversely affecting public health. The matter was considered in the light of the report of the joint Committee dated 24.01.2020 to the effect that industrial unit in question had not taken requisite measures to control the air pollution caused by transportation and handling of raw material. The Tribunal accordingly directed remedial measures for future and action for the past violations.
The industrial unit in question filed an additional reply dated 10.08.2021, mentioning the steps taken to prevent pollution in handling of raw material. The State PCB also filed its compliance report on 12.08.2021.
Tribunal directed the State PCB to take remedial action to ensure compliance of environmental norms in accordance with law. In particular, the State PCB had to verify the efficacy of steps taken in controlling the air pollution when the unit starts actually working. If any grievance remains, aggrieved parties were permitted to take their remedies as per law. The application was disposed of.
