Earth Hour 2010

Earth Hour 2010 will be on 27 March, 8:30 p.m.

Earth Hour's Vote Earth

Vote Earth

Thank you for helping make Earth Hour the largest climate campaign ever. But we’ve only just begun.

This December world leaders meet in Copenhagen to decide how we deal with climate change. What sort of future would you have them choose – Earth or Global Warming?

Hundreds of millions of people have already voted for Earth with their light switch. You too did it too. Now is your chance. It’s time again to show where you stand. It’s time to Vote Earth.

Why is Copenhagen so important?

Increasing greenhouse gas emissions could result in disastrous consequences for people and nature. The global community will meet in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009 to agree on a new global climate deal aimed at protecting the future of our planet.

What is VOTE EARTH?

VOTE EARTH is WWF’s global climate campaign aimed at securing an effective deal at the Copenhagen Climate Summit in December 2009.

It is a broad and comprehensive campaign that integrates policy, direct advocacy and public outreach. The campaigns key proposition is to present the world with a choice: either you are for Earth, or you are for global warming, it’s that simple. For this WWF is planning to leverage the enormous support and public outreach it got during its one of the most successful campaign EARTH HOUR.

The VOTE EARTH campaign aims to make global leaders and decision-makers realize the historic opportunity of a global climate deal in Copenhagen. It also aims to ensure that a historic just, effective and science based Global Climate Deal is agreed in Copenhagen in December 2009, which is strong enough to avert catastrophic climate change. Such a deal must lead to a peak of global GHG emissions well before 2020, and ensure that the world is on track to keeping the rise of average global temperatures in the 21st century well below 2°C.

This public outreach component of VOTE EARTH will enable the people of the world to deliver a mandate for action that will help leaders to seal the deal in Copenhagen.

Together, this global mandate will help world leaders in Copenhagen to deliver the climate deal the planet needs.
