Nature Drive for Clean and Green Raipur

 WWF-India, M.P. & CG SO organized a rally ‘Nature Drive for Clean and Green Raipur’ at Raipur on 17th July 2010 in collaboration with the local NGO Pratigya. It is a group of few awakened and enthusiastic youths with some of the elderly and aware people of the capital city of Raipur. 

The objective of the drive was three dimensional that is plantation of trees, cleaning of garbage and awareness of society through slogans. It was basically aims at sensitizing the people of Raipur towards environment. 

The work for the drive started since morning. The volunteers along with labourers dug the pits for plantation and the Municipal Corporation sent the JBC machine to clean the garbage from 10 spots. Later the Students from various schools and institutions, NCC, NSS and Scouts and Guides were gathered at Holy Cross School, Kapa. Ms. Sangita Saxena, State Director, M.P. & CG. SO, encouraged children to take part in such environment protection activities. Finally the Rally of about 500 students and volunteers was green signaled by Hon. Mayor Smt. Kiranmayee Nayak. which covered around 3.5 Km passing from the market and residential area. Throughout the Rally the students were shouting slogans for the protection of environment. The mayor and other dignitaries planted trees and she also promised to look after the appropriate dumping of the garbage in the colonial and commercial areas.
