Senior Education Officer- Hyderabad Office

WWF-India, one of the country’s largest conservation organizations is looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic young Senior Education Officer at its Hyderabad office. Our Environmental Education programmes are aimed at raising public awareness on conservation issues. Increasingly, programmes are aimed at building green capacity in educational institutions with teachers, youth and school children; the aim is to generate a cadre of conservation-conscious and motivated citizens who may play role in promoting environmentally sustainable life-styles.

Location: Hyderabad

Required Candidate Profile:
A. Educational Qualifications: Masters degree in Life Sciences / Wildlife Biology/Ecology /Environmental Education

B. Experience: Minimum 3 years

C. Special Skills and Abilities:
a) Fluency in English, Hindi and the local language, i.e. Telugu.
b) Excellent Communication and presentation skills
c) Good writing skills are a must; capability to prepare training modules and generate resource materials
d) Willingness to travel extensively

Specific Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
1. Initiate Ek Prithvi programmes for the forest and fringe community villages in the Protected Areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh using the cluster level approach. Each cluster comprises of 20-25 schools.
2. Conduct various environment education and awareness activities (teachers training, students training, training government officials and non-formal target groups) in the State.
3. Establish and service nature clubs in schools and colleges in districts and conduct environmental education activities such as Slide shows, film shows, nature camps, competitions, talks etc.
4. Create Volunteer Hubs in Educational Institutions & Corporate Groups as part of the Volunteer Engagement programme of the WWF Environment Education Division.
5. Designing and production of IEC materials such as posters, pamphlets, stickers, guides, on nature and environment should be done in consultation with experts. Care must be taken to comply with copyright issues while using other published materials
6. Organizing and conducting nature camps for all the target groups.
7. Observe at least major environmentally significant days such as World Environment Day, Earth Day and World Biological Diversity Day.
8. Exploring new avenues/partnerships for undertaking innovative and long-term environmental education activities / projects.
9. Prepare and send regular reports on education activities to the State Director
10. Prepare and distribute electronically as well as through post the WWF-India Hyderabad Office Quarterly newsletter
