Conservation issues

Although endowed with rich biodiversity, the region is faced with many conservation challenges such as:
A. Poaching of tigers and prey species for illegal wildlife trade and subsistence.

B. Habitat degradation due to overexploitation of forest resources.

C. Habitat loss and fragmentation due to developmental activities such as construction of roads, railways and infrastructure.

D. Intense human-wildlife conflict in villages near forest areas.

E. Inadequate political will to support wildlife conservation.
