These young environmental champions from Bhutan, Colombia, Cyprus, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Portugal, and Spain battled through multiple rounds of intense competition, culminating in the high-energy international finals held virtually and on-ground in select locations.
The WWGC 2024 reached new heights this year, with a massive number of students competing in grades VI to IX. Students participated through a combination of digital platforms, webinars, and workshops, making the challenge accessible across different geographies. The challenge took place in three languages—English, Spanish, and Mandarin—expanding its international reach and ensuring students from various regions had the opportunity to engage in the educational experience.
This year’s theme, “The Ultimate Scaly Survivalists,” took participants into the captivating world of reptiles, encouraging them to explore the incredible diversity, behaviours, and survival strategies of these remarkable creatures. From debunking myths to uncovering fascinating facts, students learned how reptiles have thrived for millions of years, making it an enriching learning experience for all.
The International Finals were an exhilarating affair, hosted by renowned quizmaster Mr. Ajay Poonia. Mr. Ravi Singh, Secretary General & CEO, WWF-India, delivered an inspiring message at the finals of the Wild Wisdom Global Challenge 2024. He lauded the finalists and shared, "This challenge is not just about winning—it’s about fostering a lifelong commitment to conservation. While one team would emerge victorious, I urge all participants, as well as all the students, to seize opportunities like this to learn and act for wildlife and biodiversity. Through such initiatives, WWF-India continues to lay the foundation for a new generation of environmentally conscious individuals who are knowledgeable and caring towards wildlife and the environment.”
